For the release of Nabuma Rubberband, Swedish electronic band Little Dragon took a lengthy break from touring to record in their hometown of Gothenburg. The band continued to be varied stylistically and aspired to create many different moods on each track of the album. The group drew inspiration from the slower R&B pop records of Janet Jackson and Prince, and stated that the dark and cold Swedish winters also had an effect on Nabuma Rubberband's sound. The album is preceded by the single "Klapp Klapp."
