More Info:

Culminating a dream that began 45 years ago, the Council of Thirteen proudly releases their debut album "In Between The Dark and The Light". Available as a double CD. The brainchild of keyboardist, vocalist, bassist and songwriter John W. Edwards, has it's formations in songs that John started writing in 1979 while studying Physics and Mathematics at the University of Arizona in Tucson. During that fall he put together a band that was called Starfyre. Starfyre never got off the ground and John finished his MS in Systems Engineering and went on to a career in Aerospace Engineering with such companies as Rockwell International, Texas Instruments and Allied-Signal. In the mid-1990s, John had the dream of starting a record label and soon thereafter, Renaissance Records was born. Formed and operating in Nashville between 1995 and 2001, he relocated the label back to Arizona, where it has been ever since. The thirty-year success of the label firmly entrenched in the annals of music; John decided to return to his songwriting after the untimely passing of his sister. "I wanted to revisit all these songs I had written over the years and finally do something with them. There were over 150 lyric pages in a notebook I kept. I have grandkids and I wanted them to know that Grandpa did something besides running a record company". Therefore, The Council of Thirteen was born by combining the talents of 13 other musicians and singers with John's songs and some great covers of other classic rock artists' tunes. The full package of 48 tracks presented on 2 CDs gives a little something for everyone from power rock ballads to 70s pop songs, to 80s rock and new wave tunes and some great contemporary rock performances. Some of the standout original songs are "That's Love", "Had Enough", "Susanne", "Sandie", "Trudy (I'll Say Goodnight)", "Dance In The Dark", "The Other Side Of Time" and "Confusion" along with interpretations of songs by Genesis, INXS, Peter Gabriel, Sherbet, The Tubes, Rush, Petula Clark, The Moody Blues, Kirsty MacColl, Russ Ballard, Keats, Phil Seymour, Camel, ELO, The Call, The Monroes, Flash And The Pan, Clout, Spider, Walter Egan, Bob Welch, Paul Davis, The Korgis, Alphaville, The Tee Set, Art In America and The Zombies. If you love classic melodic rock with a modern twist... then The Council Of Thirteen is for you!
