More Info:

THE GITS- Frenching the Bully is the first full length studio album put out by The Gits. It was first released in 1992 and followed by months of touring. It was received famously in music press on both sides of the Atlantic and had the music industry buzzing about this 'new' Seattle upstart punk band. This album is raw, intense, angry, tender and passionate. It has been out of print since 1994 and after a ten year fight with the record label that put it out, The Gits have reclaimed rights to the album and their murdered singer, Mia Zapata's musical legacy. The album has been remixed and re-mastered by producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Therapy?, Mudhoney, Supersuckers, Blue Cheer etc.) and 10 bonus live tracks have been added. This was the album that started it all. Viva Zapata!

Reviews:

Viva Zapata! Or, more specifically, viva Mia Zapata, the Seattle singer who was raped and murdered in 1993. When Zapata died, we lost one of the best vocalists of the decade, a whirling dervish of a female who raged with the sincerity of singers like Kathleen Hanna, but minus the politically correct attitude. Today, the remaining members of Zapata's band-the Gits-carry a torch for their fallen frontwoman, reissuing their '92 debut with bonus tracks, new mixes by Jack Endino and live cuts galore. Brutally cathartic, this astonishing 22-song collection is, more than a decade after its release, fresh and invigorating. With six songs that clock in under the two-minute mark, and just one track that goes over four minutes, this is raucous, urban punk rock at its finest.
