Raised in northern California, Johnny grew up absolutely enveloped in music. Everything from Hank Williams to Bach. He started playing in a local rock band when he was 14 with a pawn shop bass and borrowed amp. The PA had no grounding and many times sparks would fly from mic to lips. From there to college where he and a good friend entertained the co-eds with songs they made up on the spot. Then to south America to spread the word with music. Johnny and two friends appeared on TV several times. After their tenure, they went back to record an album and had a number one song as well as sold out concerts. Then, while back at school, he formed a band with 4 friends known as the Denver Brick and Pipe. They attended college in the day and played at night. They actually did many concerts on campus. Although Johnny had heard music all of his life, it was this band which cemented his harmonic prowess. They would perform the likes of Crosby, Stills and Nash, Eagles, Beatles, America, any band with harmonies was there strong suit. Then he met the girl who would be his wife and singing partner for many years to come. They moved to southern California for more school and performing. His wife produced a record for the Christian market and Johnny played all the instruments. He continued to play at night, first on his own then was joined by bass. Soon it became a full band again and this went on for a number of years all the while working on what would be Primrose Gardens. The album started on a 4 track cassette then 8 track cassette then digital 8 track then digital 16 track and finally 24 track digital audio work station. Johnny's original idea was to do guitar and vocal. When he started adding other instruments he decided it was all or nothing. What you are listening to is years of work and experiences but most of all a great time.
